Richard leads the Nottingham University research group on the NERC and ESRC funded research into the science that underpins the Wallacea Trust biodiversity credit methodology. His main research interests are biogeography, conservation, macroecology and plant ecology, with particular focus on biodiversity and the forces that structure ecological communities. Richard is also an Editor-in-Chief of Global Ecology and biogeography and has published over 90 papers in peer reviewed journals.
